Census Bureau says three Western IL counties have higher median income than Adams County's $49,088

The Census Bureau says that the median income in Adams County has gone down over the past year.

The Bureau released figures Monday showing that in Adams County in 2017, median income decreased in a range of 2.3 to 7.6%. The median income in Adams County was just over $49,000. Three counties in the WTAD listening area had higher median incomes, with Brown County leading the way at nearly $54,000. The lowest income was in Pike County, at just over $43,300. The Census Bureau also said that the percentage of those in poverty in Adams County last year was at 13.5%. Hancock and Schuyler counties were both under 12%. The highest per cent of those in poverty was in McDonough County, at 18.6%. In Northeast Missouri, Marion County's median income also fell by 2 to 7% last year, and was at just over $45,000. Marion County's poverty rate was at 17.2%. The lowest was in Ralls County, with 9.6%. The highest was in Knox County at 18.6%.

In Lee County, median family income is just over $50,000, and poverty is at 14.1%.
