Wanted in both Hancock and McDonough Counties

A Hancock County manhunt ended Wednesday afternoon with the capture of a LaHarpe man.

33 year old Michael Donaldson was arrested around 12:20 P.M. Wednesday in Burlington, Iowa, where police found him hiding under insulation in the basement of a home, according to Hancock County Sheriff Scott Bentzinger. In a statement, Bentzinger said that Donaldson was seen by deputies in McCall, north of Carthage, Tuesday afternoon and again Wednesday morning. Donaldson was able to elude both state and local authorities Tuesday afternoon, by running off, and hiding in a corn field south of McCall. Donaldson was wanted on two outstanding warrants in Hancock and McDonough counties as part of an investigation into numerous thefts.

Donaldson is expected to sign extradition papers and be taken back to the Hancock County Jail.
