Company wants MO PSC rejection overturned

A Missouri Appeals Court has tentatively scheduled arguments for next February in the appeal by a Texas company over their plans to build a high-voltage power line across Missouri, including Monroe and Ralls Counties.

Court records released Tuesday show that the Eastern District Appeals Court has tentatively scheduled a February hearing for Clean Line Energy Partners in late October. The company wants to build the Grain Belt Express power line from Kansas, across Missouri and Illinois. That includes building the line through Monroe and Ralls Counties, as well as a converter station near Center. Clean Line wants the Supreme Court to overturn the rejection of their application for the project by the Missouri Public Service Commission. They cited a decision by the state Western Appeals Court in the Mark Twain Transmission line case. The court said that Ameren Transmission needed permission to use rights-of-way from each County it was building in.

Missouri is the only state to have rejected the proposed 435kV power line.

(WTAD wishes to issue a correction to this story. We had earlier reported that the case was being heard by the Missouri Supreme Court. That's not correct. It's being heard by the Eastern Missouri District Appeals Court. Clean Line has asked the Missouri Supreme Court to hear the case, but they have not yet ruled in the case. We regret the error.)
