Company wants Public Service Commission denial overturned

The Missouri Supreme Court will be hear oral arguments next month in a lawsuit filed by a Texas company over their plans to build a high-voltage power line across Missouri, including Monroe and Ralls Counties.

Court records show that the High Court decided last week to hear those arguments April 3rd. The Missouri Eastern District Court of Appeals ruled in February that the case brought by Clean Line Energy Partners can proceed to the state's highest court, three weeks after hearing arguments. The company wants to build the Grain Belt Express power line from Kansas, across Missouri and Illinois. They also want to build a converter station near Center. Clean Line wants to have the rejection of their application for the project by the Missouri Public Service Commission in 2017 overturned. The PSC cited an earlier decision by the Western Court of Appeals in the Mark Twain Transmission line case. That court said that Ameren Transmission needed permission to use rights-of-way from each County it was building in.

The Eastern Court of Appeals ruled that both the PSC and the Western Appeals Court ruling was in error.
