Highland School District says that seven students have tested positive in just over a week

A Northeast Missouri school district is reporting an outbreak of COVID-19.

The Highland School District said Thursday that three 6th graders at Highland Elementary had tested positive for the virus. Officials say the students had symptoms start Monday through Wednesday, and were at school during those days. All three students also rode the same bus to and from school those days. That's after a sophomore at Highland High School tested positive Sunday, after riding a school bus to last Friday night's football game at Centralia. In addition, a fourth 6th grader and two 8th graders also tested positive between Saturday and Wednesday.

Highland officials are urging parents to monitor their kids closely for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 and to keep them home if they're experiencing any of them.
