Road will be closed through end of November
The second phase of construction on a section of North 18th Street in Quincy will start Monday, resulting in the road's closure for over two months.
The City Engineering Department announced Friday that North 18th between Chestnut and Locust will be closed to nearly all traffic, except for residents. They'll have limited access on that section of 18th. The Engineering Department says that like before, Rees Construction will leave barricades open on nearby side streets for residents to get to their property. A statement asks drivers to not drive through the area where workers will be present, saying there won't be any vehicle access during the project. The City plans to resurface the street, along with adding new curbs and gutters, and build new sidewalks. Last summer, the city replaced the sewer lines underneath the road.
The city says it expects the project to be done by the end of November.
