Sheriff's Department says Dusty Embree, 23, of Griggsville ran during drug arrest
Pike County, Illinois authorities continue to look for a wanted man, who escaped during a drug arrest Monday night.
The Pike County Sheriff's Department says they're looking for 23-year old Dusty Embree of Griggsville. He escaped deputies during a traffic stop, when authorities say that while in handcuffs, he fled on foot into a cornfield near Baylis. Sheriff Paul Petty says in a statement that Embree and 18-year old Cain Vincent of Pittsfield were in a vehicle pulled over on County Highway 2. Petty says that deputies found meth, prescription pills and drug paraphernalia. Embree was already wanted on a Pike County warrant, and Petty believes he fled after seeing the deputy find the drugs in the vehicle. A search of the area by the Sheriff’s Department, Illinois State Police, the West Central Illinois Drug Task Force, and other volunteer agencies including a K-9 over the past 24 hours has been unsuccessful.
Petty says that Embree's not believed to be dangerous, and has had contact with law enforcement in the past without incident.
