William Poor will have hearing May 14 on murder, other charges

A Pittsfield man, charged with allegedly beating a man to death with his fists, will have a preliminary hearing next month.

William Poor was in Pike County Circuit Court Tuesday, where a May 14th date was set for that preliminary hearing. There will also be a hearing that day on a motion by prosecutors to either raise Poor's $300,000 bond, or deny him bond. Poor faces two counts of 1st Degree Murder, and counts of aggravated battery and obstruction. He's accused of severely beating 26-year old Joshua Witherbee of Pittsfield during a fight March 27th at a home in the 300 block of Landess Terrace in Pittsfield. Witherbee died two days later at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. Poor was charged based on the incident. Pittsfield police say that after the fight, they served a search warrant at Poor's home on West Perry Street and found bloody clothing worn during the incident.

Poor's being held in the Pike County Jail.
