QMG to use Bergner's building for new Surgery Center

QMG to use Bergner's building for new Surgery Center

5 years, 6 months ago by Scott Hardy

Will go for state approval in March; hopes to be completed by 2021

There may be a new tenant in the former Bergner's building at the Quincy Mall.

Quincy Medical Group announced Thursday that it's filed an application to establish the Quincy Medical Group Surgery Center there. A statement says that the proposed Surgery Center will have 8 rooms that will include Endoscopy, Cardiac Catheterization, Ophthalmology Laser Surgery and operating rooms to support all surgical specialties. QMG also says the Center will include a Cancer Center with chemotherapy and radiation oncology. Their oncology team and all supporting services for a cancer center would be relocated to the new Center.

QMG says that the Surgery Center is expected to go before the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board in early March 2019 for approval. If approved, renovation will begin with an expected completion by 2021. There's no word yet on how much the project will cost.
