Revised proposal to be drafted as an ordinance

The Quincy City Council has over-ridden the Zoning Board on a request by a law firm to install a sign near the proposed Adams County Jail.

The Council, acting on a motion from 7th Ward Alderman Terri Heinecke, voted to draft an ordinance allowing for a 17 square foot sign for the law firm of Pollock, Ennis and Heck on its' property at 608 Vermont. Their current sign is 15 square feet, and they had originally asked for a 32 square foot sign. The city Zoning Board had recommended that the Council deny the original request.

The Council also granted ADM a floodplain variance for its' new Animal Nutrition Feed facility on North 30th Street. Part on the new facility will lie in a 100 year flood plain of a nearby creek.
