Emir Jasso Diaz sentenced Thursday after pleading Guilty

A Quincy man has admitted having over 400 grams of meth when he was stopped on Interstate 172, and is going to prison.

Emir Jasso-Diaz was in Adams County Circuit Court Thursday, where he pleaded Guilty to one count of Meth Delivery over 400 grams. He was set to go on trial last Monday, but instead waived his right to a jury. After the plea, court records show Jasso Diaz was then sentenced to 15 years in prison. A co-defendant, James Courson, will be tried June 11th. The pair were first stopped in November by Adams County Sheriff's deputies after they saw a vehicle driven by Jasso-Diaz traveling southbound in the northbound lane at I-172, just south of Highway 24. During the stop, deputies found over 400 grams of meth inside the vehicle.

Courson remains in the Adams County Jail on $50,000 bond.
