Gabriel Alvord to go on trial in June

A Quincy man, one of two people charged with attempted murder after an early March shooting northwest of Liberty, has pleaded Not Guilty and will go on trial in June.

Gabriel Alvord entered that plea Tuesday at a hearing in Adams County Circuit Court. Records show Alvord will go on trial June 8th. The plea came after both he and a co-defendant, Kayla Obert, were indicted Thursday. Both are charged with counts of attempted murder and aggravated discharge of a firearm. Prosecutors say that the pair were in a vehicle the evening of March 4th, and that Alvord allegedly shot at a man, while he was standing near his car in the area of East 2100th and North 1050th. No one was hurt in the shooting, and police arrested the pair about 30 minutes later on Interstate 172. During the arrest, two firearms were allegedly found in the vehicle, along with shell casings near the home.

Alvord's in the Adams County Jail on $250,000 bond. Obert's free on $350,000 bond, and will have a hearing May 12th.
