Quincy man sent to Federal prison on child-sex count

Charles DeWeese sentenced Thursday to 15 years in prison, life-time supervised release

A Quincy man, who's pleaded Guilty to a Federal child-sex count, has been sentenced to 15 years in Federal prison.

Charles DeWeese was in US District Court in Springfield Thursday, where he learned of that sentence. He'll also spend the rest of his life on supervised release once he's out of prison. DeWeese had earlier pleaded Guilty to one count of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. As part of a settlement with prosecutors, three similar counts were dropped.DeWeese was indicted on the charges in October 2017 by a Federal Grand Jury, and admitted to having inappropriately recorded video of children in his home. Authorities said the incidents happened from January 2014 to November 2016. Quincy police arrested DeWeese at his home in the 2200 block of Payson Avenue, after getting a tip from the Division of Children and Family Services.

Police had said they foundĀ "numerous hidden cameras and microphones" while searching his home.
