Steve Homan entered that plea in Adams County Circuit Court Tuesday

The owner of a Quincy nightclub, charged with choking a Quincy University student early Easter morning, has pleaded Not Guilty.

Steve Homan was in Adams County Circuit Court for his first appearance on one count of Aggravated Battery. Records show that after entering that plea to the charge, he'll be back in court July 6th. Homan was indicted in late April on the charge by an Adams County Grand Jury. He's accused in the early morning attack at The Barn nightclub on Front Street that injured QU freshman Jazzpher Evans. A charging document says that Homan put his arm around Evans's neck, and dragged her for 20 seconds. Evans says she blacked out as a result of that, and also reported injuries to her face, neck, back and other parts of her body. Homan turned in his liquor license in late April, just before a revocation hearing.

Homan’s free on $25,000 bond.
