50-seat jets fly to Chicago's O'Hare Airport
Today is the first day of service for Quincy's newest airline.
SkyWest Airlies has started offering two round-trip flights between Quincy and Chicago's O'Hare International Airport. The company's first flight arrived at Quincy Regional Airport at 7:38 AM, and the first flight to leave took off at 8:08 AM. That flight included Quincy Mayor Kyle Moore, who was on the flight to attend an Illinois Municipal League board meeting Saturday. Moore says flying directly to O'Hare in the 50-seat jets gives travelers more options than previous flights to St. Louis.

SkyWest was awarded the Essential Air Service contract earlier this year. An official celebration is planned for Wednesday morning.
