Spending time with Elvis

Spending time with Elvis

6 years, 11 months ago Mike Moyers

Tina and Eric Smith enjoy resorting with the cast of Elvis Duran and The Morning Show.

It started out as a phone call and ended with a wonderful time in the sunny climbs at Riviera Maya with the cast and crew of Elvis Duran and Morning Show.

Quincians Tina and Eric Smith won the trip a few months ago and completed the adventure the final few days of April.

“We had a wonderful time, said Tina.  “The Riviera Maya is incredible to say the least.”

The air route took the Smith’s from St. Louis to Chicago and then direct to their destination.  There they met 2 other Elvis winners from Wisconsin and then took the one hour ride to the resort.

“It was amazing,” Smith continued. “We had a cold Corona or two on the way to the resort and then, once we arrived, were really impressed with the level of security.  It was really something.”

Eric and Lisa were surprised to learn that their trip came with a “butler-person” who was at their beck and call throughout the stay.   And the room and “goodies” weren’t bad either.

“Our room had a balcony that included a walk out Jacuzzi,” Smith explained.  “The people staying on the main floor had a pool that you just walked into.  It was crazy. Our butler-person showed us where everything was, how stuff worked and what all came with the room-which was way more than we expected.  She said, ”all of this is for you: lots of adult beverages, water, several kinds of beer.  I was like, WOW!!”

But things would only get better.

“We went down to the lobby and found an Elvis Duran table and checked in.  We were told we were going to get one of the INSTAX cameras and some other goodies, but we were really amazed when we both got a camera! That was great!!!”

And what are big radio stars like in person?

“Elvis Duran was just great,” Smith continued.  “We walked around the resort and basically saw all the people from the show and got to meet everyone at a gathering on the first night.   Elvis and the gang had to turn in early because they were doing Friday’s show live from there the next morning, but we caught up to him before he left.  Eric and I introduced ourselves and Elvis said, “You’re the only ones from Illinois!!”  Elvis introduced us to a few people in the group, but before he left we told him we were going to get up early and watch them do the show.  Elvis said, “You should just sleep in.  That’s just way too early; you should just sleep in!”

After the show on Friday it was resort time.

“We hit the beach Friday afternoon and Saturday we stayed at the pools inside the resort.   The service was great.  The waiters just continued to bring us drinks and they just couldn’t be nicer—especially if you tip them-which we did.  Friday night we hit the Sushi bar and Saturday night we dined at a Steak House on the resort and that was really good too.”

But there was still more of the Morning Show to come.

“Elvis is soo down to earth,” Smith continued. “We got to meet Uncle Johnny (saw him WITHOUT his toupee) and we told them both how much we enjoy and appreciate their morning show.   And, or course, this great trip!”

It started with a phone call and a long shot chance of winning, but the Smith’s came away with memories they’ll have forever.  All for just listening to REAL 929.

And we’re glad they were.    Now how about you?  Elvis Duran and Morning Show airs exclusively Monday thru Friday, 5a to 9a, on 92.9 KGRC (REAL 929)
