National Weather Service says same for Illinois River

The National Weather Service says there's a near-average chance of flooding this spring along the Mississippi River.

The Weather Service issued its' Spring Flooding Forecast Thursday night, saying that for the stretch of the Mississippi from north of Lock and Dam 20 at Canton to Winfield, Missouri, the chance of flooding in the next three months is "near-average." They say that even though snow total in the Upper Midwest are low, soil moisture across the upper Mississippi watershed are mostly near to above normal. The Weather Service says that the Illinois River also has an average chance of flooding over the next three months.

For tributaries like the Fabius Rivers and the North River, it's less likely they'll have flooding due to below normal precipitation over the past four months.
