Mike Troup, who won the April general election for Mayor over Nora Baldner, was sworn in as Mayor Monday night. Also sworn in were new 1st Ward Alderman Greg Fletcher and new 3rd Ward Alderman Parker Freiburg, along with five sitting Aldermen, City Clerk Laura Oakman and City Treasurer Linda Moore. After the meeting, Troup said that he hopes to get several possible ordinances in front of aldermen this month.

Those could include fixing more potholes, addressing Aldermen's concerns about a lack of staffing in the City's Central Services Department, and a proposal Troup ran on to give developers more help in developing low-cost upper floor housing in the City. Troup also revealed who's staying on in his Administration.

The City Council approved the low bid of just under $1.9 million from Rees Construction to build sidewalks on North 12th Street between Seminary Road and Koch's Lane, build storm sewers and re-surface Koch's Lane from U.S. 24 to North 12th. Work could start sometime next month.
