Andrew DeHaven to be charged with murder in death of his father Michael DeHaven
Hancock County authorities have identified both the victim and the suspect in a fatal shooting Monday in Pontoosuc.
Hancock County Sheriff Scott Bentzinger Tuesday said that 67-year old Michael DeHaven was found dead in his home in the 600 block of 4th Street in Pontoosuc, and that his son, 36-year old Andrew DeHaven, has been arrested in connection with the crime. A report says that around 8:30 Monday morning, Andrew DeHaven told a neighbor to call the Sheriff's Office, saying he had just killed his father. Bentzinger says that after his arrest, the younger DeHaven also admitted to detectives that he had committed the murder.
DeHaven's being held in the Hancock County Jail, and formal charges are expected to be filed Tuesday.
