Water service is off until 9 PM Friday, several streets are closed
The City of Quincy says it's had to shut off water service to residents in a large area of the city's mid-town area.
The City says water service is off for those on Vermont from 12th to 14th Streets, and on 14th Street from Broadway to Hampshire until 6 PM Friday. It also says that water service will be off until 9 PM Friday for those on Hampshire, from 12th to 14th Streets, and 14th Street, from Maine to Vermont. Crews were fixing a leaking water valve, but are now also dealing with a water main break in the area.
That water main break has caused the City to close several streets to traffic until Noon Saturday. That includes Hampshire Street between 12th and 16th Streets and 14th Street between Hampshire and Vermont.
Once service is back on, a 48-hour boil order will be in effect for those areas, as well as on 13th Street, from Vermont to Broadway.
