Company will build arrays in Vandalia and Bowling Green, and buy an array in Cass County, IL
Ameren Missouri says it will increase its' energy output over the next few years by building or buying several solar arrays in the Tri-State area.
The company Tuesday said it will acquire or build about 550 megawatts of solar energy, with four separate projects. Ameren says they will be capable of producing enough energy to supply more than 95,000 average-sized residential homes. The projects include Cass County Solar, a 150 megawatt project in Cass County, Illinois, to be bought from Savion. They also include 50 megawatt renewable energy centers in both Bowling Green and Vandalia, Missouri, to be built by Ameren Missouri, and a 300 megawatt project in Warren County, Missouri that Ameren will buy from Invenergy. Ameren says the projects are targeted to be ready between 2024 and 2026, and that the effort is part of their goal to add 2,800 mega watts in new renewable energy generation by 2030.
The company says it also wants to have a company-wide net-zero carbon emissions goal by 2045.
