Burlington Police believe both the drive-by, and the gas-station shooting where one man was shot, to be related.

Officers in Burlington, Iowa have one person in custody and are searching for a second suspect after a drive-by shooting and a shooting at a gas station on the city's south side Friday.

The Burlington Hawkeye reports that officers were called to the area of the 500 block of south 9th street just after 11 Friday morning to a report of shots fired. One man, Decorya Kessee of Shreveport, Louisiana (pictured), is in custody following a search through a wooded area between Agency Street and U.S. 34 north of Hy-Vee, and a second suspect has not been found. Police continue to investigate this and another shooting that occured Saturday afternoon at a gas station near Maple Street and Central Avenue in Burlington where one man was shot in the chest. The man was taken by ambulance to Great River Medical Center in West Burlington for treatment. No arrests have been made from the Saturday shooting.

Kessee is in the Des Moines County Jail pending a court appearance. Burlington Police say they believe the two shootings to be related, as they occurred within 4 blocks and 27 hours of each other, and continue the search and investigation of each.
