Approves promotion of Tairu Zhong to Interim Director of Quincy Regional Airport

The Quincy City Council has approved requests from Mayor Mike Troup to re-appoint a member of the Fire and Police Commission, and to hire an interim director for Quincy Regional Airport.

The Council Monday night voted to approve requests from Mayor Troup to re-appoint Barry Cheyne as a Commissioner to the Fire and Police Board for a three year term. It was unsure whether the Mayor would re-appoint Cheyne, in part because his term on the Commission had expired in February. Mayor Troup had also appointed two new people to the Fire and Police Board after he was first elected. The Council alo voted to approve Mayor Troup's appointment of Tairu (Tai) Zong as the Interim Airport Director effective this Thursday. Zong is the current operations manager at Quincy Regional Airport, and will replace Chuck Miller. He resigned earlier this month, citing a lack of respect from the Mayor's office. Miller had been on the job since the fall of 2022.

The Council also voted to approve just over $250,000 in bids for concrete and patching material to maintain the city's streets and sidewalks.
