William Jones to be tried in St. Charles, MO County

A former Pike County, Missouri law enforcement official, charged in connection with the October drug overdose death of a Louisiana man, will go on trial next March.

Former Louisiana Police Chief William Jones was recently in St. Charles County Circuit Court, where a four-day trial was set, starting March 11th. The case is being heard in St. Charles County on a change of venue from Pike County. Jones is charged with counts of 2nd Degree Murder, Drug Trafficking, 2 counts of drug possession, evidence tampering, and stealing drugs. A co-defendant, Alexis Thone, is also charged with counts of 2nd Degree Murder and drug trafficking, along with two counts of drug possession. Both are charged in the mid-October 2022 death of Alexis Thone’s brother Gabriel. Prosecutors say that an off-duty Louisiana police officer called 911 to report Gabriel Thone’s death at Jones’s home. First responders were able to revive a second brother of Thone's who was having trouble breathing. Jones and Alexis Thone were arrested at a traffic stop in Louisiana two days later.

Jones is free on $300,000 bond, and is being electronically monitored. Alexis Thone is in the Pike County Jail on $200,000 cash-only bond.
