Carl Douglas arrested in Atlanta Tuesday afternoon

A co-owner of a now-closed Quincy daycare center now faces more serious charges, and is under arrest.

Quincy Police said Wednesday that Carl Douglas, 48, now faces one count of attempted Murder, based on a July 14th incident in Quincy. Douglas was already facing one count of Aggravated Assault with a vehicle from the incident. Court records show that on Wednesday, the Aggravated Assault charge was dropped by Adams County prosecutors, based on the new charge. Police Chief Adam Yates says that detectives continued looking into the incident, and that further information led to the new charge being filed. Douglas was arrested Tuesday afternoon at the airport in Atlanta by officers with Homeland Security, and Customs and Border Protection. Douglas was getting off a flight that had just returned to the United States. He's being held in the Clayton County, Georgia Detention Center. Chief Yates says that once an extradition hearing has been held, Douglas will be returned to Adams County.

The Little Angel's Child Care and Pre School in the old Washington School building on North 8th Street closed earlier this month, as state officials were set to revoke its' license.
