Pike and Scott Counties added

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker has expanded the number of counties that are covered under a disaster proclamation, after a series of storms caused damage during the July 4th holiday weekend.

Governor Pritzker Monday named 13 more counties to the original Disaster Proclamation, which already included Hancock and McDonough Counties, and now includes Pike and Scott Counties. The new declaration is the result of work done by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Office of Homeland Security with local governments to assess the impacts of the storms on the communities in the newly included counties. The new proclamation allows additional local entities increased access to state resources and emergency personnel who can help in response and recovery efforts. The storms in West-Central Illinois rolled through the area June 29th, and produced heavy rainfall, flash flooding, hail, tornadoes, and straight-line winds.

The Disaster Proclamation goes into effect immediately.
