Around 50 new jobs will be created.

Around fifty new jobs are coming to Hannibal, as a regional poultry company says it plans to expand.

Jones Poultry, a family-owned poultry processing company, announced Tuesday that it will expand into Hannibal. The company says it will invest $6 million and creating those 50 new jobs. The Barry, Illinois based company says it's expanding its Illinois-based operations into Missouri, due to the state’s business-friendly climate and strong workforce. In a statement, Corey Mehaffy, Executive Director of the Hannibal Regional Economic Development Council says that Jones will move into the old Buckhorn Rubber plant on Industrial Loop Drive. That closed after Buckhorn moved out of Hannibal at the end of 2017. A statement from the HREDC says that because of the larger size of the new plant, Jones Poultry will be able to increase its production and hire more employees in all positions. Jones Poultry is making use of the Missouri Works program. It's a development program from the state of Missouri that gives companies who expand and retain workers tax credits

The company expects to begin production in Hannibal by the end of April.
