Dr. Bryan Renfro to become Chancellor at Eastern Iowa Community Colleges July 1.

John Wood Community College says its' President is leaving at the end of June to take a new position near the Quad Cities.

The College said Tuesday that Dr. Bryan Renfro has been picked as the new Chancellor at Eastern Iowa Community Colleges. EICC announced the move too, saying that Renfro was selected at a special meeting of the EICC Board Tuesday morning. Dr. Renfro's last day at John Wood is set for June 30th. He had been one of three finalists for the Chancellor's job at EICC, which covers Scott, Muscatine and Clinton Counties in eastern Iowa, with campuses in Davenport, Muscatine and Clinton, Iowa. Dr. Renfro began as JWCC’s seventh president in early January 2023, after succeeding Michael Elbe, who retired at the end of 2022 after eight years as President. The John Wood Board credited Dr. Renfro for his time at the College, citing increased enrollment and retention figures while adding initiatives like Guided Pathways, Caring Campus, and the Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education or FAME.

The Board says it will meet within the next 15 days to determine its' next steps that may include the need for an interim president and to establish a search process for a permanent replacement.
