College's first increase in 5 years
John Wood Community College is raising its' tuition for the first time in five years.
The John Wood Board of Trustees Wednesday night approved a $7 per credit-hour hike in tuition for all students, during their meeting in Quincy. It's the first raise in tuition since 2017. The Board approved a contract with the Pauly Group, an academic search company based in Springfield. They'll serve as the search firm to help find a replacement for retiring school President Mike Elbe. He plans to step down at the end of the year. The Board re-elected Diane Ary of Quincy as Board Chair, and heard a report on an audit of the college's financial records for Fiscal Year 2021. The firm of WIPFLi, LLP reported a clean audit, meaning there were no mistakes made by the College's Fiscal Service and Business Offices.
The Board also approved applying for a $2 million dollar grant to the US Department of Education for the Supplemental Support American Rescue Plan and Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds.
