Results are from 2019 IDOT analysis

According to a state study, Quincy Regional Airport contributes just under 25 million dollars a year to Quincy's economy.

The Illinois Department of Transportation Wednesday announced the results of a new study showing that Illinois airports contribute over $95 billion and over 490,000 jobs to the state’s economy. In a statement from IDOT, they say that the 2020 Illinois Aviation Economic Impact Analysis is the first report of its kind released by IDOT since 2012. The report analyzed 85 public-use airport facilities, including Quincy Regional. It found that in 2019, the airport had an economic impact of $24.7 million, including $8 million in labor income. The Airport is also responsible for 158 jobs. The airports at Mount Sterling and Pittsfield also took part in the study. The Mount Sterling airport had an economic impact of $5.3 million, while Pittsfield's Penstone Municipal Airport had an economic impact of just under $4 million.

Early next year, IDOT says they're expected to release the first Illinois Aviation System Plan in over 20 years. They say the plan will help identify short- and long-term needs of individual airports and the aviation system as a whole, with the goal of continuing to support economies throughout the state.
