Raymond Gum to go on trial July 19 in Shelby County
A Palmyra man, who's pleaded Not Guilty to a charge of murder in the early-September 2021 death of a Palmyra woman, will go on trial next summer.
Raymond Gum was in Shelby County Circuit Court Thursday, where a three-day trial was set, beginning July 19th. Gum was set to have a three-day trial earlier this month, but that was stricken in late August. Gum's case is being heard in Shelby County on a change of venue from Marion County. He's charged with counts of 1st Degree Murder, Armed Criminal Action and unlawful possession of a firearm. Gum's accused in the September 3rd, 2021 shooting death of Crystal Cooper. Her body was found that morning in a car in the 100 block of East Jefferson in Palmyra. Gum was arrested the next day in Petersburg, Illinois.
He's in the Marion County Jail on $1 million cash-only bond.
