Bruce Gilker sentenced Wednesday in 2021 attack

A Quincy man, convicted on charges he sexually assaulted a child, will serve a long prison sentence.

Bruce Gilker was in Adams County Circuit Court Wednesday, where he was sentenced to a total of 19 years in prison. He could have received anywhere from six to 60 years in prison. Gilker was convicted in May on one Class X count of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault, and one count of Sexual Exploitation of a child. That jury also found Gilker not Guilty on two other Class X counts of Criminal Sexual Assault. He was indicted in late September 2021, and was picked up on a warrant the morning of August 11th at his home in the 700 block of South 13th in Quincy. The charges stem from a four-month long investigation that started after the Adams County Sheriff's Office received a complaint about the allegations.

Gilker was already on two years' probation after pleading Guilty in February to one count of Intimidation, based on a July 2020 incident where he took a gun into a Camp Point nursing home and threatened an employee.
